Yesterday I taught my twice a year encaustic class at strathmore. One of my favorite students from the last class came back and all in all, we had a very hardworking successful group. None of the drama and chaos of the last class when the firetrucks came and we blew fuses and had to split up into the sun porch and kitchen. Above is a beautiful work created by one of the students.

Richmond cont.

I had a great time in Richmond, exhausting, but exhilarating. I went to Crossroads where I found two wonderful pastel artists - Nathan Pope, and Nancy Tucker and an artist who hand paints historic photographs, a good solution for Stafford.

Richmond day 1

So here it is, two weeks later! I've been spending my computer time researching artwork first for our hotel job and then for two hospital projects. Fredericksburg has a great local listing of artists http://www.artspoint.org/ which was a huge help. Yesterday morning I visited the delightful Joni Lewis and then went across the street to the Art First Gallery. It was wonderful to see the art in person.
Then on to VCU for a meeting with Kevin from the design department (who is also a new SAH board member). I walked through the Fine Arts building and tried to meet with a professor we are asking to help us jury a USBG show and then on to Anderson Gallery to see the encaustic show that traveled to VCU from the McLean Center for the Arts.
